Advice for the Budding Affiliate Marketer

Author: Shane Higginbottom

If youre new at to affiliate marketing youve undoubtedly been force fed the dream of instant riches, push button wealth and the dream of instant gratification that only the internet can bring.

Know what you CAN have all this, but the catch is this: IT TAKES TIME. Dont buy into any garbage marketing that will tell you all you have to do is buy this product for 47$ or 1497 $ and all your dreams will come true over night. It is'nt going to happen over night.

That being said lets get down to the truth of affiliate marketing. What does an affiliate marketer do anyways? Simple he/she sells other peoples stuff.

The merchant (person who has something you can sell)has a product and you think its a worth while product that you can sell using their affiliate link, whether youve used it or not is a whole other topic. And they agree to pay you a commission. It's usually 50% I would'nt recommend anything other than that and preferably higher should you be able to find it.

Now for the nitty gritty.

Im sure youre well aware that an affiliate marketer sells other peoples stuff for profit. Its a great business to be involved in, no product to inventory. No overhead. No product development hassles. What Im going to tell you now is probably the most important part of all of this, you may or may not choose to use this advice or even take it as sound advice. Do this and see for yourself that Im not fooling around with you. Pick you favorite affiliate merchant send them an email asking for advice or some other question and see if you get a response back in a reasonable amount of time. If you dont dont market that product. WHY you ask? and you may be thinking Who cares if they send me back a reply I just want to make money.

Look its as simple as this. If they cant be bothered investing some time in you with support for their product then you should'nt be bothered with putting money in their piggy banks Secondly: if someone buys xyz affiliate product from you and they have a question they cannot get answered by the merchant , well guess what, theyll not buy from you anymore. And what if your customer sends you an email about the product you just sold which you dont yourself own or have ever used so you cannot intelligently answer their question.

What then? Are you going to try and support the product I somehow dont think so. Now you may not care at all about this and shame on you if this is your attitude. But its a fact and your credibility is whats at stake here. Why is your credibility at stake when xyz product merchant does'nt respond to their emails.

They bought it from you did'nt they. And repeat customers is what you want either from your list or website. NO support =bad credibility and lost future affiliate revenue.
