Rosemary, Just What The Doctor Prescribed

Author: Ines Mi

Having been brought over the Alps into northern Europe by the first Christian monks, rosemary was popular in monastic gardens for it's medicinal properties. Rosemary still remains a popular herbal remedy for many of today's ailments.

The Taste and Aroma

Rosemary has a tea like aroma and a piney flavor.

Rosemary for Remembrance

The scent of rosemary is an effective memory stimulant. This might make a nice potted plant for your desk at work, or where the kids do their homework.

The benefits of Rosemary Tea

Make rosemary tea for digestive problems, as an expectorant, to relieve cold symptoms, and as a relaxing beverage that may be helpful for headaches and low moods. Directions: Use one teaspoon of crushed dried leaves in a cup of boiling water and steep for 10 minutes. Take care to preserve the steam with a tight fitting lid in the preparation process.

Rosemary and Wine

Rosemary can be taken in wine or alcohol to treat edema, inflamed and torpid livers, nervous conditions and as a heart stimulant.

Relaxing with rosemary

Added to baths, rosemary extracts help to stimulate and tone the skin, while oil of rosemary can used as a hair conditioner. The oil will help hair with dandruff while leaving it lustrous and manageable.
