How to Get a Loan With Bad Credit History: a Frank Answer

Author: Joshua Mann

I get that question a lot of times... I'm going to tell you what I think is the right answer, and I say to everyone, but first let me talk about what are your options.

When you are considering how to get a loan with bad credit history, you should really spend some time thinking if you really, really, REALLY need it. Why? Well... consider this. If by any chance you would get the loan; would you be able to pay every quote on the deadline? Because if not you could just end up messing your credit score more than it already is.

So if it's for a new 60" flat screen TV or to install a pool in your backyard, you should keep yourself from applying for that loan. Surprisingly enough, it seems that everyone's answer to that question is that they DO need it urgently. I've seen cases in which people can't make their deadlines and further on have to declare bankruptcy. On the other hand, I've also seen cases in which people actually improve credit score because they made the deadlines.

So think about it good.

A great option you should consider is asking a family or friend for the money. But don't give him or her your word for it. You should sign a promissory note that would make it legal and guarantee your close friends or relatives that you would pay it back. By doing so be sure to keep it very clear that you could have some trouble paying it back, in case you could end up needing an extension.

Be careful if you're applying to one of those institutions that give loans regardless of bad credit history because you could end up in a debt pit. What does this mean? Imagine borrowing $1000, and then end up paying $1600.

What a scam!

This brings me to what I tell everyone that asks me this question... How to get a loan with bad credit history? The best way to get a loan with bad credit history is to improve your bad credit first and then apply for the loan, if not don't get it at all; you could end up "paying" for it.
