Why Select A Local Realtor In Selling Your Home?

Author: calbuild
If you are looking to select a realtor, look for a realtor that has his or her office in the town in which the property is located. A lot of people select a realtor that is based in another town either because they know the realtor through prior associations or because they were solicited through aggressive sales tactics into signing a listing agreement with an out of town realtor. This may not necessarily hurt the seller but it certainly will not help. Signing with a local office will probably give the seller better access to the realtors working with buyers looking specifically in the seller's area. Agents in a particular office may meet several times a month to discuss what they have in their inventory. Though listing with an out of town realtor who lists your home on the mls (multiple listing service) theoretically should give you the same coverage and hence employ the services of local agents as well, it is less likely that local agents will considering your mls listing above those held in their own inventory. And besides you are paying for the additional attention of the agents employed by the listing broker that comes with having your property as part of their inventory. Why would you want to list your property with a realtor that focuses their business primarily in another town?
