Buy A Hybrid Car and Get a Big Tax Break

Author: Lance Winslow

You know that in 2005 there were more hybrid cars sold in the United States than in any other time in human history? Over 200,000 hybrid cars were sold the United States last year.

Currently, there are waiting lists at the dealerships right now at both Toyota and Honda for hybrid cars; this is due to the strong demand and obviously the high gasoline prices at the pump which are expected to rise to a $4.00 per gallon during the peak hurricane season as large category 3 and category for hurricanes hit the Gulf Coast where many platforms and refineries are located.

This will hurt supply and we all know that commodities such as oil are very much beholden to fluctuations of supply and demand. With supply is cut short due to destructive hurricanes be oil commodity will trade at a higher price. The answer is for many folks to buy a hybrid car and the Bush Administration has set forth a great plan to extend the hybrid automobile tax credits and add to that clean diesel fuel cars which are sold.

Currently, you can die the $3400 tax credit if you are on one of those waiting lists and get one of those hybrid cars now. This was signed into law under the energy policy act.

The reason that clean diesel vehicles also receive the tax credit is because the technology is such that many of these vehicles run on 30 percent less fuel than gasoline vehicles.

The more people who buy and drive the sorts of vehicles the less overall fuel consumption our nation needs and uses and therefore we do not over tax our supply causing huge price spikes. This is just one thing that the government is doing to help ease the burden of the high gasoline prices. Thank you President Bush.
